Gere explained that since the arrival of his younger children, he and his family lead a relatively quiet life, focusing on their children rather than social outings or watching new movies.
Gere, 74, and his wife Alejandra Silva, who hails from Spain, have decided to settle there to be closer to her roots. He described their family routine, highlighting that their evenings are quite subdued. With three young children—an 11-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old—their nights end early, often by 9:30 PM. If they do watch something, it’s usually on the big television at home. This simple lifestyle underscores their dedication to family time over maintaining a high-profile public life.
Richard Gere’s wife, Alejandra Silva, recently posed for a rare photo with her three sons during a Mother’s Day getaway. In an interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere discussed how he avoids premieres and seldom watches his own films. He revealed that his wife, Alejandra, and his older son, Homer, 24, haven’t seen many of his movies.
Gere mentioned that Homer doesn’t fully comprehend his father’s star status. “He doesn’t understand it,” Gere said. “And it is also very difficult for him to see me on the screen because even if I play an extreme character, I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get into the story.”
Interestingly, Homer has recently developed an interest in acting and filmmaking. Gere shared, “He has suddenly become interested and seems to enjoy it. He’s been writing and directing little movies, so we have this new thing in common.”
In addition to Homer, whom Gere shares with ex Carey Lowell, Gere and Silva have two younger sons: Alexander, 5, and another son, who is 3 years old, whose name has not been publicly disclosed. This blend of family life and shared interests highlights the close and evolving relationship Gere has with his children.
On Mother’s Day last year, Alejandra Silva shared a touching photo on Instagram of Richard Gere with their three children. The image captured a joyful moment of Silva playing in the sand with their younger son, Alexander, her son from a previous relationship, Albert (9), and Gere.
