In a recent interview with Vogue, Jolie opened up about why she’s now appearing less frequently in movies. Besides focusing on her new socially-conscious business venture, Atelier Jolie, she mentioned that a period of personal transition has led her to “only taking jobs that [don’t] require long shoots.” Here’s Jolie’s full comment:
“Now I wonder if I don’t know what my style is because I’m still understanding who I am at 48. I guess I’m in transition as a person. I feel a bit down these days. I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way, which I don’t want to get into.
We had a lot of healing to do. We’re still finding our footing. I think part of [Atelier Jolie] has also been therapeutic for me—to work in a creative space with people you trust and to rediscover yourself. I’m hoping to change many aspects of my life. And this is the forward-facing one.”
Angelina Jolie’s Upcoming Movies Explained
Angelina Jolie may be scaling back her acting commitments, but she still has several projects in the pipeline. She is set to reprise her role as Tigress for the fourth time in “Kung Fu Panda 4,” a character she first portrayed in the original film in 2008. Additionally, IMDb lists her as returning for a third film in the “Maleficent” Disney franchise, although this project has not been officially confirmed.
Jolie is also slated to appear in “Every Note Played,” a drama about an ALS-stricken piano teacher cared for by his estranged wife. She is attached to “Maria,” a film where she would portray real-life opera singer Maria Callas during her final days in 1970s Paris.
