Bruce Willis’ mother, Marlene Willis, has been witnessing firsthand how her
son’s illness has affected his life and his interactions with those around him.
“She is uncertain if her son still recognizes her,” shared Wilfried Gliem, a cousin of Willis’ mother, in an interview with BILD.
“His responses are very slow, and there is a constant hint of aggressiveness, making it impossible to have a normal conversation with him. Unfortunately, this behavior is typical for his condition.”
Gliem also mentioned that Marlene is deeply affected by the situation, especially for her granddaughters, but she remains hopeful that the family will get through this difficult period together.
Bruce Willis’ illness didn’t come as a huge shock in Hollywood. Last Thursday, it was announced that the health of Bruce Willis, who had retired from acting due to aphasia, had worsened over the past year. Following further tests, the actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Willis’ current wife, Emma Heming, his former wife, Demi Moore, and his five daughters, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn, shared details of the challenging time he is facing at the age of 67.
she posted this and said “Happy Birthday, Bruce! Thankful for our blended family”
“Since we announced Bruce had aphasia in 2022, his condition has progressed, and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (FTD),” the family stated. “Sadly, difficulty communicating is one of the symptoms of this disease. Although this is very painful, it is a relief to have a clear diagnosis.
“FTD is a cruel disease that many people are unaware of, and it can affect anyone.”
