Tim Curry looks completely unrecognizable after stroke – celebrates 77th birthday quietly in LA

Tim Curry is a legend of theater and film, known for his impressive range of roles that have left an indelible mark on show business. Born on April 19, 1946, Curry’s career has spanned decades, showcasing his remarkable talent and work ethic. Despite the competitive nature of the entertainment industry, he thrived and built an extensive and diverse resume.

Curry’s iconic portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” launched him to cult fame. He continued to excel in both theater and cinema, rejecting the idea of a sequel to Rocky Horror in 1979. Instead, he focused on developing his vocal talents, releasing albums, touring, and performing on Broadway and television.

Between 1978 and 1981, Curry released three studio albums with A&M Records, achieving moderate success with the single “I Do The Rock.” During this period, he also worked with renowned actor Ian McKellen in the critically acclaimed play “Mozart,” earning Tony nominations for both.

Curry’s versatility was further demonstrated in his portrayal of Pennywise the clown in the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” and as Long John Silver in “Muppet Treasure Island” (1996). His ability to see Muppets as fellow actors rather than puppets speaks to his deep immersion in his roles.

Tragically, Curry suffered a stroke in 2012, which significantly impacted his life and career. The stroke, kept secret by his family and friends for a year, led to extensive physical and speech therapy. Despite the challenges, Curry’s resilience and optimism remained unwavering. In a 2015 interview with Los Angeles Magazine, he expressed his gratitude for life and his involvement with the Actors Fund.

Today, Curry lives a quieter life in Los Angeles, focusing on his recovery and occasionally participating in video chats with fans. His enduring spirit and infectious joy continue to inspire many.

As Tim Curry celebrates his 77th birthday, we honor his incredible contributions to theater and film and thank him for the unforgettable memories. Happy Birthday, Tim!
