In 1975, a famous musician from The Hudson Brothers met iconic actress Goldie Hawn on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. Their connection was immediate, leading to a dinner date that same night. The musician, known for performing with The Beach Boys and The Monkees and starring in films like Hysterical, recalled their intense chemistry, describing the physical connection as unforgettable.
The couple married in 1976 when Goldie was pregnant with their son, born with complications at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. Despite ups and downs in their relationship, their attraction remained strong.
After their son was born with complications, Goldie Hawn and her musician husband were deeply distressed as he spent three days in isolation. “Goldie and I were beside ourselves,” the musician recalled, but their son eventually recovered, becoming their “precious miracle.” In 1979, they welcomed a daughter.
Despite some happy years, the couple divorced in 1981 when the musician discovered Goldie had been unfaithful. “She wanted an open marriage,” he shared, while he desired a more traditional union. After the split, Goldie began dating Kurt Russell, and they had a son, Wyatt, in 1986.
Blending families was a big adjustment for Goldie Hawn’s children. Her daughter recalled, “It was a huge moment, seeing my mom madly in love with Kurt Russell.” Meeting his son Boston made her wonder, “Is this my brother now?” It was a lot to process at a young age.
Goldie’s children from her previous marriage struggled with feelings of abandonment after their father, Bill, gradually distanced himself. Reflecting on this, her son praised Kurt, saying, “My pa stepped in when I was six and made me the man I am today.” Despite their strained relationship with Bill, both siblings are grateful for Kurt’s role as a father figure.
Bill, however, has accused Goldie of turning their children against him. The tension became public in 2015 when Oliver posted a controversial Father’s Day message, calling it “abandonment day.” Bill, hurt by the post, voiced his frustration, saying Oliver could have called him instead of posting something so painful.
Bill Hudson expressed that Oliver’s actions had effectively cut him out of their lives. Tensions escalated further when Kate followed Oliver’s lead, publicly praising Kurt as her true father. During an interview, Bill urged them to stop using the Hudson name, claiming they were no longer part of his life.
Bill described Oliver’s post as a “malicious, vicious, premeditated attack,” stating, “He is dead to me now, as is Kate.” He even removed their childhood memorabilia from his home. Despite this, Kurt Russell embraced his role as a grandfather to Kate and Oliver’s children.
While Bill harbors resentment, Kate and Oliver have focused on building strong family ties with Kurt, moving on from the strained relationship with their biological father.
