Tommy Lee Jones may be a legendary actor, but some would say his success is deeply intertwined with the support of his wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones, whom he’s been married to since 2001.
The celebrated Texan, known for iconic roles in films such as The Fugitive, JFK, and Lincoln, first crossed paths with Laurel-Jones in 1995 while working together on a film. By 1998, the pair made their relationship public, gracing the red carpet together for the first time in March.
Both passionate about environmental causes, the couple has actively supported The Climate Reality Project, founded by Jones’ longtime friend Al Gore. In 2012, they even journeyed to Antarctica with the organization and participated in a London auction where Laurel-Jones showcased and sold her stunning photographs from their expedition.
In 1995, Tommy Lee Jones met his future wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones, on the set of The Good Old Boys, where she worked as an assistant camera operator. At the time, Jones was still married to his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley, whom he divorced in 1996.
By 2001, Jones and Laurel-Jones tied the knot in a private ceremony in Alamo Heights, Texas. Laurel-Jones became stepmother to his two children, Austin and Victoria, from his previous marriage.
The couple is also deeply involved in environmental advocacy, including raising over $400,000 for The Climate Reality Project through the sale of Dawn’s stunning photos from their 2012 Antarctica expedition.
Tommy Lee Jones and his wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones, share a unique passion for polo. In 2006, they funded two teams, including themselves, six professional players, and over 50 horses, training at their Florida farm. Jones once told Texas Monthly, “We are at the top of our game. We can beat anybody.”
Despite not knowing how to ride a horse before meeting Jones, Laurel-Jones quickly became one of the top women polo players in the country—a remarkable transformation within just a decade.
Tommy Lee Jones and Dawn Laurel-Jones live on a historic cattle ranch in Texas, which has been in operation for over 150 years. They value their privacy, with Jones noting, “The gates are locked… Just friends and family, no outsiders.”
Their ranch life involves working cattle during the day and playing polo in the evenings, followed by relaxing by the fire. In addition to their Texas home, the couple also spends time at their 74-acre polo estate in Buenos Aires, Argentina, enjoying a truly luxurious lifestyle.
During the production of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones, his wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones, served as the on-set still photographer. The film became a family affair when their then-14-year-old daughter, Victoria, was cast for a small role.
However, a humorous incident occurred when Victoria overslept, leading Jones to jokingly “fire” her. Unbeknownst to him, the crew secretly woke her up and rushed her to the set, ensuring she made it just in time for her appearance.
